WHY A PLAYBOOK?
This playbook provides clear, up-to-date guidelines and governance on how to manage DP World’s global social media profiles for DP World colleagues working in communications and marketing as well as external agency partners. It outlines our approach to building relationships with DP World’s audiences and promoting our organisation through social media.
However, as with any social media presence, there is a potential risk of conveying an inappropriate message that could potentially alienate customers and tarnish our brand reputation. Therefore, we are careful and deliberate in what we communicate via our social media channels. For further guidance, please consult the Employee Social Media Policy.
This section provides advice on how to address common problems and troubleshoot issues for all staff who use social media and/or manage a social channel for DP World.
MANAGING ACCOUNTS
Can I set up my own social account for my region or Business Unit?
No – Unauthorised opening of social media accounts is not permitted. For markets that wish to open their own channels, please contact the Global Digital & Social Media team. Can I set up a dedicated market channel for Facebook?
Maybe – Whilst unauthorised opening of social media accounts is not permitted, there is a process for opening market channels for Facebook.
For markets that wish to open their own channels, please contact the Global Digital & Social Media team. You will need to share the reasons why you want the channel, your market strategy, and the resources you have to manage the channel.
Note: If you open your own channel without prior approval, the Global Digital & Social Media team will have the right to remove the channel.
Are there any topics I can’t post about?
Yes – Bear in mind that there may be consequences to what you post, so think carefully about your content. Refrain from posting about controversial or irrelevant trending topics, political or religious content, and personal opinions. Additionally, respect the cultural and religious sensitivities of all the countries within the DP World global network.
Remember: Even when you are personally engaging on social media, a DP World affiliation on your profile has the potential to affect the company’s reputation. For further details, please consult the Social Media Policy.
Can I draft a post and share it to be posted on global channels?
Yes – Before drafting, please refer to the content checklist to ensure that the post is appropriate for global channels. If it is, send the post and submit suggested copy to Hootsuite for review and scheduling on Airtable. Learn more about how to post your content HERE.
